Thurcroft Junior Academy - Uniform

 

Pupils must be properly dressed in school uniform at all times. Appearance is very important.

  • Black blazer with embroidered ‘Thurcroft Academy’ logo and gold braid (please be aware there is a difference between the blazers for boys and girls; boys’ blazers have a black lining whereas the girls’ blazers have a gold lining).
  • White shirt/blouse – long or short sleeved
  • Black and gold striped tie (elasticated)
  • Mid-grey smart v-neck jumper
  • Mid-grey or black tailored trousers for both girls and boys (leggings, jogging bottoms or jeans are not acceptable)
  • Mid grey or black pinafore dress
  • Knee length black or mid grey skirt
  • Mid-grey or black tailored shorts (girls and boys)
  • Yellow gingham dress
  • White, grey or black socks for both girls and boys; grey or black tights for girls
  • Smart black shoes for boys (not trainers)
  • Sensible low heeled plain black shoes for girls.

 

The following are not acceptable:

Shoes with flashings or trims, trainers, stilettos or shoes with high heels over 3-4cm, sandals, open-toed shoes, sling back or backless shoes. In severe weather conditions (snow) pupils may travel to school in boots but must bring a change of footwear to wear during the school day. Girls may wear plain black boots under trousers

  • No hats must be worn inside the school building, however woolly hats may be worn to travel to school and wear at break times in cold weather and caps may be worn during break times in the summer to provide shade from the sun
  • Sensible hair accessories are acceptable
  • PE kit white plain round necked t-short (no logos or images) and black shorts, black plimsolls for indoor PE and trainers for outdoor PE.

 

The following is not acceptable for school:

  • Hair dyed in bright colours
  • Coloured nail varnish – false nails
  • Shaved heads including hair patterns

 

Jewellery should not be worn, with the exception of a watch and one pair of small plain ear studs which must be removable by the child for PE.

Final decisions about the uniform policy are at the discretion of the Principal.
